Project: Editorial illustration part 1

Exercise : Editorial illustration

Rachel Tudor Best

I started my research for this exercise from browsing the name of the illustrator from my course book.  Rachel Tudor Best’s work is clear and funny at the same time.  I like the simplicity of her work, love the colours and the lines.  Definitely, she is my new illustrator that I will look up.

how green is your food ?

I managed to take this title as it is. How green is your food? I did not want to make it very colourful or very complicated.  The message is clear and my illustration as well.  There are no tones in my work beside the green question mark that is visible from the distance.  .  The food has no colours just to show the contrast between bland food and green. I am very happy pleased with my idea as I really tried to make it as professional as I could.  In my opinion this is very good type of illustration for a food magazine.

Finding your family history?

The style of my second illustration is more complicated than number one. I spent more time creating it.  This is a collage where some parts are hand made and some of are made on computer. Finding your family history is the title of the article.  I thought about tree as a family tree.  The idea is very old however, I wanted to make it more fun and play with it.
